New Sounds in an Old Place

We started New Sounds In An Old Place in September 2017. It’s a great privilege to be able to hold these events in the wonderfully atmospheric setting of St John the Baptist Church. Huge thanks to Reverend Garth Bunting and his parishioners who were fully behind the idea. We want to bring the best music to this neighbourhood and by programming events in historic buildings in the area bring an awareness of the richness of our locality.

We are in our second year with a series of extremely successful gigs that have attracted an audience from Drumcondra, Glasnevin and the greater Dublin area. We want to have great music within easy access of all who live in the neighbourhood and beyond.

We are a voluntary group of arts professional who live or work in this area and our policy is we volunteer – the artists get paid. We are passionate about live music and want to support these amazing performers and keep this as a sustainable career for outstanding musicians. We’ve had great support to make this possible, including for this series from the Croke Park Community Fund.

We are delighted that following acts have played New Sounds In An Old Place: Maria Kelly, John Cummins (poetician), Soulé, Sorcha Richardson, Malojian, ROE, Ailbhe Reddy, Ryan Vail, Saint Sister.
